U-16 Boys County Final - composure and hard work earns just reward

All roads led to Castletown Geoghegan on Saturday 7th October where our boys took on Maryland/Tang in the Division 2 County Final. Maryland/Tang started strong with hitting the net twice in the first few minutes of the game but Shandonagh remained calm and kept pushing up the field taking their points when possible. Maryland/Tang went in at half time a point ahead.

Shandonagh started the second half stronger and were a point ahead when we had a goal disallowed. Maryland/Tang brought the game back to a draw but Shandonagh pushed ahead, scoring 4 consecutive points before we were reduced to 13 men. Maryland/Tang didn’t give up and scored a couple of great points but Shandonagh’s dominance in the middle of the field ensured they held onto the lead and came out eventual winners. Shandonagh 0-16 Maryland/Tang 2-05.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved, the hard work paid off. Hard luck to Maryland/Tang, it was thrilling game.
