UNDER 14 Championship Division 1

Mullingar Shamrocks 5-5 Shandonagh 4-7

This ever-improving under 14 squad played an outstanding Championship Game against our neighbours Mullingar Shamrocks at Springfield on Thursday evening last.

Shandonagh were first out of the traps with 2 Brendan Killian points before we conceded a goal followThe second half saw the Shandonagh boys surge into life. They had two more goals on the board before the taste of the half time oranges had left their lips, both coming from Jonathon O Donoghue.

Unfortunately this was as good as it got as an incredible Shamrocks surge which yielded 3 goals in 5 minutes saw us chasing the game for the first time. The guts and determination shown by the Shandonagh lads was a joy to behold, and as the decibel level rose from the visiting support, our boys scored 2 points including an excellent O Donoghue fisted effort to leave the minimum between the teams with 3 minutes remaining. Despite sustained pressure from Shandonagh, the Shamrocks defence held firm and, unfortunately, the clock on 30 minutes beat us to what surely would have been a deserved draw. At least we move on with heads held high. The boys have worked hard at training and should be proud of their performance, undoubtedly, despite the outcome, their best this season.

Squad: Cian Molloy, Evan Molloy, Feidhlim Glennon, Karl McLoughlin, Gerry Duffy McAndrew, Fionn Glennon, James Kerrigan, Adam Cronin, Dylan Glancy, Ryan Donnelly, Eric Bates, Jonathon O Donoghue, Lee Lyons, Adam Treanor, Brendan Killian, Michael Conlon, Jay O Brien, Dylan Mills, Sean Quinn, Daniel Scahill, Tumelo Tlou. 2nd of August 2015

Shandonagh 3-5 Killucan 1-5

Our U14 Boys wrapped up the league campaign with a comprehensive win against Killucan on Sunday Afternoon. It was a blistering start with goals from Daniel Scahill and a sublime flick of the wrist from Sean Quinn to the back of the net in the opening 5 mintues which set us on our way. A point at the end of a sweeping move from the same player and two Ryan Donnelly frees saw us assert a 9 point lead at the break.

Killucan had the dream start to the second period firing 1-1 to rattle the Shandonagh lads into action, but our boys never lost their composure. Adam Cronin and Dylan Glancy, aided by Gerry McAndrew, re-asserted midfield control and we finished the game with 6 points to spare. This concludes the League Campaign which sees us finish in 3rd position in a very tough group. Well done to all of our lads and indeed to Seamus Wallace for superb conditioning work especially over the past number of weeks.

Best wishes to all of the boys recovering from injury and going on holidays over coming weeks.21st June 2015

The Team on the night was Michelle Lynn, Aoife Gavigan, Anna Fallon, Sarah Fay, Emily Fallon, Sarah O'Brien, Danagh Nagle (capt), Kelly Nagle, Aoife Ganley, Roisin Maguire,  Emily Ganley, Sarah Fallon and Rachel Lynn.1st June 2015

League Division 1A

St Lomans 1-7 Shandonagh 8-7

St. Lomans played host to our under 14 boys last Tuesday in the league. We Played with a strong wind advantage in the 1 st half and turned around at the half time interval with a 7 point advantage. This was in no small part thanks to goals from Evan Molloy and Ryan Donnelly; both of which were set up by excellent ball winning and distribution from Lee Lyons. Gerry Duffy McAndrew and Fionn Glennon slotted long range points to give us a cushion that would not be easily defended against a St Lomans Team which had quality throughout.

As expected our opponents came out with all guns blazing at the beginning of the second half and St. Loman's closed the deficit to 3 points within 8 minutes of the restart. The pressure was intense. Some wonderful defending from James Kerrigan along with a fortunate crossbar strike saw us clear our lines and with Dylan Glancy now asserting himself in midfield we carried back into the danger zone. Brendan Killian was on hand at the end of a sweeping move to finish to the net and re-assert a six point lead.

The Shandonagh lads regained their composure to close the game out with goals from Dylan Glancy, Fionn Glennon and Ryan Donnelly and a superb point from Jay O Brien. This game could have gone either way and, while flattered by the scoreline, the performance was one of sheer guts and no little quality.

The match was most notable for the return of our trusty defender Feidhlim Glennon who were are delighted to see back in the Shandonagh Jersey following an extended injury. 24th May 2015

UNDER 14 Boys Fixture

On Thursday 14th of May, at 7.00pm our boys take on Killucan in Shandonagh in the 4th round of the league.

Our U14 Squad took to the field on Saturday last where we welcomed St. Marys Rochfortbridge and Kilbeggan St. Josephs for the 2015 Feile Group Stage matches.

In Game one the Shandonagh Boys were first out of the traps yeilding an early goal from Daniel Scahill. This followed a fantastic move the length of the pitch. This really set us on our way. Ryan Donnelly netted again and a great point from Brendan Killian following a superb pass from Tumelo Tlou. This gave us a 7 point cushion at the break – a lead we did not relinquish until the final whistle.

The second game of the afternoon was narrowly won by Kilbeggan St Josephs setting up the final game to be "winner takes all" and clear passage to the Quarter Finals.

In this third and final game Shandonagh opened the scoring with an Adam Treanor point. 3 minutes later we doubled the advantage through Ryan Donnelly. Kilbeggan St Josephs struck back with a goal before Lee Lyons hit an excellent point and a gutsy Evan Molloy goal looked to have set us on our way to victory. However, our opponents fought back strongly in the closing stages and despite some heroics from netminder Cian Molloy and his defensive unit, we conceded a late goal and point to find ourselves level with 2 minutes remaining. Despite formidable pressure from our forwards we could not find the winning score and the game finished all-square.

Our efforts were rewarded with a +5 aggregate group victory to send us forward to the knockout stages. This was a fantastic effort by all of the Shandonagh lads.
