Shandonagh Gaa club was saddened to hear of the passing of one of Westmeath's best known sons. Seamus O'Faolain sadly passed away, leaving us all to reflect on the extraordinary influence he had on so many.

Former Westmeath County Chairman (nominated for the position by Shandonagh club), Central Council Delegate, Castletown Geoghegan Hurling Club member a great supporter of all things GAA, a great Gaelic Speaker and a fantastic Irish teacher in St Marys CBS who was so influential on so many of our young.

But above all he was a true gentleman who always had a kind word for everyone he met. We extend our deepest sympathy to Seamus' wife Sarah, family and friends at this sad time.

A guard of honour will be held for Seamus tomorrow at Shandonagh (along roadside) as funeral cortege passes to Castletown Geoghegan for burial.
